Payne: Uplander, Michigan Power Couple

The big story out of Tigertown this weekend is that the Orange & Black have a 2-0 game lead over the Yankee Evil Empire.

The second biggest story is that Tigers’ Ace Justin Verlander and St. Joseph-born super model Kate Upton are officially Michigan’s First Celebrity Power Couple.

The long-rumored pair are an item, their proud grandparents confirmed over the weekend. “[Kate] was at his first game in Detroit against Oakland,” Curvy Kate’s grandfather, Stephen, told Celebuzz, an Internet gossip website. “She has all of our support.”

“I heard he has been on dates with a Sports Illustrated girl. I saw a photo – she’s beautiful,” added Richard Verlander, Sr. “They make a good-looking pair because he’s a good-looking man, too. Justin is a fine boy, and whoever he ends up with is lucky. He’s not only a great baseball player – he’s a great guy.”

Seems the Yanks are not only coming in second to the Tigers on the playing field – but also when playing the female field. Once celebrity dating partner for the likes of Kate Hudson, Madonna, and Cameron Diaz, Alex Rodriguez is now dating ex- wrestling diva, Torrie Wilson. Torrie who?

And perpetual playboy Derek Jeter? He was last seen with a Ralph Lauren model named Hannah Davis – after being dumped by actress Minka Kelly.

Uncle Fred Upton has the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee in DC. And now his niece, Kate, is on the powerful right arm of the Great Verlander. Move over Brangelina. . .
