The seasons change, but Motown automobile events continue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">First up, the seventh annual Detroit 4fest at Holly Oaks ORV Park sponsored by Jeep on Friday and Saturday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">If the Dream Cruise celebrates boulevard hot rods then 4fest embraces off-road dirt kickers. Some 1,000 vehicles and 5,000 people will descend on southeast Michigan\u2019s premier off-road vehicle park for two days of driving, food, music and ogling across the property\u2019s 235 acres of hills, dunes, dirt and rock quarries. Highlights include the Notch Challenge, Bilstein\u2019s 850-horsepower Jeep off-roader built by America\u2019s Most Wanted, Off-Road 101 and Chrysler\u2019s Pacifica Grizzly Peak Concept.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_gl gnt_em__el\" href=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/picture-gallery\/media\/photo\/2025\/09\/04\/gallery-2025-detroit-4fest\/85975898007\/\" data-t-l=\"\u2691g:l|l|c|view gallery:inline promo\" aria-label=\"View Gallery - Gallery: Detroit 4fest returns\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"gnt_em_gl_i\" src=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/gcdn\/authoring\/authoring-images\/2025\/09\/04\/PDTN\/85975807007-detroit-4-fest-4-x-4.jpg?crop=1199,675,x0,y62&amp;width=660&amp;height=372&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" alt=\"\" width=\"548\" height=\"309\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"gnt_pg_img_cap\"><em>Holly Oaks ORV Park, Holly &#8211; Detroit 4fest<\/em><\/div>\n<p><em>Ross Batchelder, Detroit 4fest<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cThis is year seven for Detroit 4fest at Holly Oaks ORV Park. Can you believe it?\u201d said Detroit-based 4fest President Tom Zielinski, who also runs 4fest events in Texas and West Virginia. \u201cWe start Friday afternoon, and then we do something that&#8217;s really unique to Detroit 4fest: it\u2019s the only time you can come to Holly Oaks and go off-roading at night. We call it Nightfest, it\u2019s sponsored by TYRI Off-Road Lighting, and it&#8217;s amazing to see hundreds of vehicles out there with their super-bright lights on going up and down the hills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">When the sun rises Saturday, the park \u2014 designed by Zielinski\u2019s company, Z-Performance, on the site of an old gravel mine \u2014 becomes a giant adult sandbox crawling with four-wheel vehicles of all makes and sizes from Jeep Wranglers and Ford Broncos to side-by-sides and modified dune buggies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Off-road veterans and rookies alike are welcome.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Detroit 4fest hosts Off-Road 101 all day to teach attendees the fine points of trail driving over Holly&#8217;s 40 miles of trails. Participants can also jump into Jeeps for tours with product specialists. The luxury automaker has taken aim at Land Rover in the U.S. market with its ladder-frame-based dirt-kickers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cOur vendor count grew by over 25% this year,\u201d said Zielinski. \u201cIt&#8217;s really a testament to how people feel about the event, and frankly, how much fun it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Other vendor displays include Dana, Easton, TYRI Off-Road Lights, Magna, LaFontaine Automotive Group, Tread Lightly, Bilstein and America\u2019s Most Wanted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The latter pair have collaborated on an 850-horsepower, off-road Jeep monster with 43-inch all-terrain tires.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Speaking of new vehicles, expect Chrysler to be part of the mix with the new off-road-focused Pacifica Grizzly Peak minivan concept. Detroit 4fest attendees can climb to impressive heights at Holly Oaks.\" data-c-credit=\"Thomas Patterson, Detroit 4fest\">\n<div class=\"gnt_pg_img_cap\"><em>Holly Oaks ORV Park, Holly &#8211; Detroit 4fest<\/em><\/div>\n<p><em>Thomas Patterson, Detroit 4fest<\/em><\/div>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">When not ogling the latest hardware, participants are welcome to cruise the park\u2019s multiple obstacles in their own vehicles, from Darlene\u2018s Ridge to Mount Magna.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">For serious off-roaders, 4fest hosts the Notch Challenge through a Holly Oaks rock valley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cIt is arguably the hardest rock climb the side of the Mississippi,\u201d smiled Zielinski.\u201d We do a time trial competition up the Notch. There are 1,000 people lining the sides of the Notch while these guys try to navigate it. Not just navigate it, but navigate it for time.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_img\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"gnt_em_img_i\" src=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/gcdn\/authoring\/authoring-images\/2025\/09\/04\/PDTN\/85975795007-detroit-4-fest-jeepgulch.jpeg?width=660&amp;height=441&amp;fit=crop&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" alt=\"Detroit 4fest hosts the Notch Challenge through a Holly Oaks rock valley.\" width=\"522\" height=\"349\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" \/><\/figure>\n<div class=\"gnt_em_img_ccw gnt_em_img_ccw__cap gnt_em_img_ccw__crd\" data-c-caption=\"Detroit 4fest hosts the Notch Challenge through a Holly Oaks rock valley.\" data-c-credit=\"Detroit 4fest, Detroit 4fest\">\n<div class=\"gnt_pg_img_cap\"><em>Holly Oaks ORV Park, Holly &#8211; Detroit 4fest<\/em><\/div>\n<p><em>Detroit 4fest, Detroit 4fest<\/em><\/div>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Modeled on the famed \u201cBack Door\u201d rock crawl at the King of the Hammers off-road-palooza in Johnson Valley, California, the Notch Challenge will feature three classes: 1) Rock Crawler, 2) Street and 3) Side-by-Side.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cWe\u2019ll have some pretty wild-looking vehicles going up in the Notch in the Rock Crawler bouncer buggy vehicles with unlimited horsepower,\u201d said Zielinski. \u201cThen if your vehicle has a license plate and it&#8217;s currently registered, it qualifies for the Street class. And there\u2019ll be some folks in side-by-sides that just have to have a go at it. I don&#8217;t know if any of them can actually do it, though.\u201dd<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The off-roading ends at 5 p.m. Saturday, but that doesn\u2019t mean the end of 4fest.
