The mission, called \u201cTread Lightly! Day Michigan,\u201d will include the Detroit area&#8217;s Holly Oaks ORV park, one of the Midwest\u2019s premier vehicle off-road playgrounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Sponsored by onX Offroad, Tread Lightly! crews will hit Holly Oaks\u2019s 260 acres of hills, dirt tracks, trails, valleys and ridges from 9 a,m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for grooming, repairs, safety enforcement and recreational fun. A sort of outdoor open house, the event encourages members of the public to help maintain the off-road treasure. Henry Payne, The Detroit News<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Other state parks on Tread Lightly\u2019s to-do list Saturday include Mio, the Hiawatha National Forest, the Ottawa National Forest and Sand Lake Recreation Area. Organizers encourage participants to bring their vehicles, mudder shoes and long pants for the day\u2019s chores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to give back to my home state through this work and encourage Tread Lightly! supporters in Michigan to do the same,\u201d said Mike Sype, marketing chief for the Utah-based Tread Lightly!<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Holly Oaks ORV Park opened in 2020 and dovetailed with the U.S. overlanding explosion \u2014 a trend turbocharged by the COVID pandemic as Americans went virtual and took to the roads and outdoor recreation areas. In addition to its daily off-road offerings, the park has become the site of the annual, nationally-known Detroit 4Fest off-road event as well as a venue for automakers to introduce their latest off road-focused machines.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_img\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"gnt_em_img_i\" src=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/gcdn\/authoring\/authoring-images\/2024\/06\/27\/PDTN\/74235273007-tread-lightly-day-poster.jpg?width=660&amp;height=330&amp;fit=crop&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" alt=\"Tread Lightly! Day Michigan\" data-c-credit=\"Tread Lightly!\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Jeeps, Ford Broncos, Toyota 4-Runners, pickups \u2014 as well as side-by-sides and dirt bikes\u00a0 \u2014 regularly crawl the park\u2019s trails while families enjoy the scenery. Sections of the park are modeled after Utah\u2019s famed natural off-road attractions, such as Potato Salad Hill and Hot Tub.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The front of the property includes manicured areas like a closed dirt track for speed runs as well as Darlene\u2019s Ridge, which tests vehicles\u2019 vertical acumen. The \u201cNorth 60\u201d acres of the property are a more free form \u201cscramble area\u201d in which riders are free to make their own paths.
