Cadillac\u2019s win, powered by the Wisconsin-based race team of Action Express, was the headliner in a parade of Detroit Three story lines.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/www.detroitnews.com\/gcdn\/authoring\/authoring-images\/2023\/10\/16\/PDTN\/71209798007-imsa-petit-le-mans-gridpoleacuracadillacporsche.jpg?width=990&amp;height=558&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" width=\"593\" height=\"334\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cManufacturers want to be here because we provide a huge stage for the entire industry,\u201d said John Doonan, president of IMSA and a former chief of Mazda North America operations. \u201cMotorsports are natural events to integrate manufacturer technology and marketing. While Cadillac and Ford have gained a lot of ink for their bids to race in Formula One, the world\u2019s biggest motorsports series venue with 445 million viewers, sportscar racing has attracted the most auto brands.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\" aria-label=\"advertisement\">\n<div id=\"ad-slot-7103-mi-detroit-C1561-native-article_link-money-autos-2\" class=\"gnt_x_sl gnt_x_al\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"lazyLoadX\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In addition to the Petit Le Mans title fight between Cadillac, Porsche Penske and Acura, the race attracted a capacity 54-car entry (six teams were turned away) that included cars from Chevrolet Corvette, Aston Martin, BMW, Ferrari, Lexus, Lamborghini, McLaren and Mercedes. While the race cars circulated Road Atlanta\u2019s formidable, three-dimensional, 2.5-mile track at speeds of up to 185 miles per hour over 10 hours, fans could take a break from the action and visit what were essentially mobile dealer spaces \u2014 stuffed with product \u2014 to learn about Cadillac, BMW, Mercedes and other brands.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\" aria-label=\"advertisement\">\n<div id=\"ad-slot-7103-mi-detroit-C1561-native-article_link-money-autos-3\" class=\"gnt_x_sl gnt_x_al\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"lazyLoadX\" data-x-c=\"2\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cI\u2019ve never seen so many people and brands at Road Atlanta. In many cases, they are the production versions of the race cars they see competing on track.
