Detroit<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 As the Detroit Grand Prix approaches, the NTT IndyCar Series has been turbocharged by a new, weekly TV show in the mold of Formula One\u2019s successful \u201cDrive to Survive.\u201d Broadcast on the CW Network, the six-part series goes behind the scenes to give viewers an up-close look at the personalities behind the wheel.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrive to Survive\u201d hooked millions of sports-starved American fans on the international open-wheel sport during the COVID pandemic. But while 10 \u201cDrive\u201d episodes document the previous F1 year, 100 Days episodes document the current racing season right up until the sport\u2019s biggest event, the Indianapolis 500, on Memorial Day \u2014 a week before the Detroit Grand Prix.<\/p>\n

The format\u2019s inspiration came from the NFL\u2019s Emmy-winning hit series, \u201cHard Knocks,\u201d a five-part series that goes behind the scenes\u00a0of teams like the Detroit Lions<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, similarities to \u2018Drive to Survive,\u2019 but I find it more like \u2018Hard Knocks\u2019 because we are taking advantage of the story lines as they happen in real time,\u201d said executive producer Bryan Terry, a Lake Orion native now working in New York with VICE Media. \u201cThe value of being in the moment is so real. We are magnifying \u2014 and participating in \u2014 those story lines.\u201d<\/p>\n
