In a Tweet, Ford CEO and chief motorhead Jim Farley confirmed\u00a0the long-rumored \u201cRanger &amp; Ranger Raptor are both coming to the U.S. next year\u201d after the truck made its European debut late last month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In addition to its meatier mill, the &#8217;23 Ranger Raptor will sit on a new Ranger architecture with upgraded tech. The Raptor tops the Ranger Tremor as Ford\u2019s most-capable\u00a0off-road midsize\u00a0truck. While the\u00a0Tremor competes against the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and\u00a0Chevy Colorado ZR2, the Ranger Raptor will be aimed at the Jeep Gladiator\u00a0Mojave, though the Raptor\u00a0promises peerless power in segment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Since its introduction as the first super truck in the full-size\u00a0segment, the F-150 Raptor has been joined by the Ram 1500 TRX and GMC Hummer EV super trucks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Ford had previously resisted bringing the Ranger Raptor to the U.S. market for fear of cannibalizing sales of the hugely popular F-150 Raptor, but with Ford&#8217;s transition to an all-SUV and truck brand (save the Mustang coupe and convertible), the gloves have come off with the Raptor sub-brand now gracing both the\u00a0Bronco and Ranger models.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_img\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"gnt_em_img_i\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2022\/03\/04\/PDTN\/d4496e9f-3202-48a5-8a35-7572e2756e33-FordRangerRaptor_bash-plate.jpg?width=660&amp;height=441&amp;fit=crop&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2022\/03\/04\/PDTN\/d4496e9f-3202-48a5-8a35-7572e2756e33-FordRangerRaptor_bash-plate.jpg?width=1320&amp;height=882&amp;fit=crop&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp 2x\" alt=\"Ranger Raptor features a front bash plate for when the going gets rough.\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"gnt_em_img_ccw gnt_em_img_ccw__cap gnt_em_img_ccw__crd\" data-c-caption=\"Ranger Raptor features a front bash plate for when the going gets rough.\" data-c-credit=\"Ford Europe, Ford Europe\"><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">You\u2019ll know it by Raptor\u2019s signature \u201cF-O-R-D\u201d letters branded across the front grille, amber\u00a0highlights, flared fenders, and twin tow\u00a0hooks front and rear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">While Ford won&#8217;t\u00a0have all the details sorted\u00a0\u2014 pricing, tires, fuel economy, etc. \u2014 until closer\u00a0to the Ranger Raptor\u2019s launch next year, its specs are formidable. The numbers provided here are for the European models (first to arrive late this summer), but are likely similar to what we&#8217;ll see on this side of the pond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The 3.0-liter, twin-turbo\u00a0V-6 spits out 392 horsepower and 430 pound-feet feet of torque. To reduce turbo lag, the elves at Ford Performance developed a a race-bred anti-lag system (first developed on the twin-turbo V6-powered Ford GT supercar) that keeps the turbochargers spinning up after the driver backs off the throttle \u2014 enabling\u00a0quicker acceleration.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission and will feature four exhaust modes: Quiet, Normal, Sport and \u2014 for those wide-open runs across Holly Oaks ORV Park \u2014 Baja.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cThe 3.0-liter\u00a0engine brings a different dynamic to the Ranger Raptor that will satisfy even the most hardcore performance enthusiast,\u201d said chief performance engineer Dave Burn. \u201cThe acceleration and raw performance of the new powertrain leave you grinning from ear-to-ear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">High speed, off-road runs are assisted by a hardened chassis, four-wheel-drive, refined suspension, and live-valve Fox shocks. While Ford does not specify tire make yet, European photos indicate 33-inch BFGoodrich K02 all-terrain knobbies. The body ripples with\u00a0functional air vents to feed the beast under the hood. Out back, the bed is tattooed with the \u201cRaptor\u201d logo.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The current-gen Ranger was sped to the U.S. market in 2019 to take advantage of a surge in interest for midsize trucks. The vehicles was panned by critics for its dated interior and the new Ranger and Baby Raptor promise significant upgrades. Chief among them is Raptor\u2019s 12-inch console screen and wireless\u00a0smartphone connectivity \u2014 mirroring Papa F-150 and Bronco.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Raptor also gets a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and upgraded dash design. Raptor-exclusive Code Orange accents decorate the\u00a0instrument panel and seat trim.
