{"id":23266,"date":"2019-01-09T11:54:25","date_gmt":"2019-01-09T15:54:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/henrypayne.com\/?p=23266"},"modified":"2019-01-09T11:54:25","modified_gmt":"2019-01-09T15:54:25","slug":"detroit-auto-show-infiniti-previews-electric-future-with-suv-concept","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/henrypayne.com\/index.php\/2019\/01\/detroit-auto-show-infiniti-previews-electric-future-with-suv-concept","title":{"rendered":"Detroit auto show: Infiniti previews electric future with SUV concept"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2019\/01\/03\/PDTN\/7525c25d-5e23-4cb4-914f-6a9086a6d5fe-INFINITI_QX_Inspiration_2k_Embargoed_Jan_4_8-01_am_EST1.jpg?crop=1154,682,x533,y564&amp;width=534&amp;height=401&amp;fit=bounds&amp;auto=webp\" alt=\"Infiniti Qx Inspiration 2k Embargoed Jan 4 8 01 Am Est1\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-1 p-text\">Taking another step toward an\u00a0electric future, Infiniti\u00a0on Friday revealed the QX Inspiration electric concept ahead of its of its introduction at the Detroit auto show on Jan. 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-2 p-text\">The QX Inspiration SUV is Infiniti\u2019s second design concept in as many North American International Auto Shows, following the sleek Q Inspiration sedan\u00a0that debuted in January\u00a02018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">With the U.S.\u00a0auto market hog-wild for utes, the QX Inspiration positions the automaker to go into production with its first electrified\u00a0vehicle for the 2021 model year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">With its Q-ship, Infiniti hopes to catch up to luxury competitors in hot pursuit of EV pioneer\u00a0Tesla. Jaguar brought its first crossover EV, the I-Pace, to market\u00a0in late 2018 and Audi is following it with the e-tron\u00a0SUV this year. Infiniti\u00a0has said battery power will come in two forms \u2014 all-electric or with battery-power assisted by a small gas engine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">By 2025, Nissan&#8217;s luxury automaker expects that half of its sales will be battery-powered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">Without a gas engine under the hood, Infiniti also says the QX Inspiration foreshadows production\u00a0vehicles with &#8220;spacious, lounge-like interiors.&#8221;\u00a0Infiniti\u00a0only released a photograph of the QX concept&#8217;s exterior, but expect the interior to contain elements of the Q sedan concept&#8217;s roomy interior, including a wrap-around dash screen and hand-crafted design touches.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">In production trim, the QX Inspiration will parallel the brand&#8217;s successful\u00a0gas-powered SUVs.
