The new\u00a0chassis allows three more\u00a0inches of\u00a0rear legroom.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">But where the lean-looking light-duty takes its grille design cues from the Camaro, the Heavy Duty&#8217;s front\u00a0fascia is bolder, more upright with big, lower headlights topped off by LED &#8220;eyebrows&#8221; where the 1500&#8217;s thin lights are located.\u00a0Already a leader in pickup bed access with its corner step innovation, the HD introduces a new, side bed step for easier, forward-box\u00a0access.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">From stem to stern the HD battleship shares only a roof\u00a0with the light duty 1500.<\/p>\n<div id=\"module-position-RYsKx26rRes\" class=\"story-asset image-asset\">\n<aside class=\"wide single-photo\"><div align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2018\/12\/04\/PDTN\/9b22ca4e-b69e-4dab-9630-d7d22de2d736-silverado3.JPG?width=540&amp;height=405&amp;fit=bounds&amp;auto=webp\" alt=\"All-new. The 2020 Chevy Silverado Heavy Duty shares only a roof with its Silverado light duty sibling.\u00a0<span class=\"credit\">(Photo: Chevrolet, Chevrolet)<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/aside>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\u00a0\u201cWe set out to make a statement with the 2020 Silverado HD and wanted to visually capture the power and capability of the truck,\u201d said designer Brian Izard. \u201cThe result is a truck that looks like a piece of heavy machinery with modern, chiseled finishes and customer-focused details.\u201d<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"p-text\">Chevy is coy about engine offerings, promising a new gas engine &#8220;with direct injection,&#8221; as well as its ol&#8217; reliable Duramax, turbo-diesel V-8 \u2014\u00a0now mated to a 10-speed transmission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">The big Silverado is the latest salvo in a GM truck onslaught. Since re-entering the mid-size truck market in 2015, GM has brought all-new versions of the\u00a0middie Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks and full-size\u00a0Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra. The Silverado\u00a0light-duty now spans eight different models from the fleet Work Truck trim to the luxurious High Country, while the Sierra has been moved upscale with an emphasis on the premium Denali and all-new, rambunctious\u00a0AT4 off-roader.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">The Silverado HD comes on the heels of Chevy&#8217;s introduction of a more-extreme, off-road\u00a0Colorado Bison to compliment its veteran ZR2 dirt-kicker.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">All told, GM&#8217;s holy trinity of midsize, light-duty, and heavy-duty trucks has made the General the best-selling truckmaker in the United States\u00a0\u2014\u00a0outpacing Ford Motor Co.
