{"id":21719,"date":"2018-01-15T18:35:51","date_gmt":"2018-01-15T22:35:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/henrypayne.com\/?p=21719"},"modified":"2018-01-15T18:35:51","modified_gmt":"2018-01-15T22:35:51","slug":"toyota-rolls-out-all-new-avalon-in-detroit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/henrypayne.com\/index.php\/2018\/01\/toyota-rolls-out-all-new-avalon-in-detroit","title":{"rendered":"Toyota rolls out all-new Avalon in Detroit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div align=\"left\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/-mm-\/4d79c64700c15fc795fdf055ef1cfb87258e10fd\/c=309-0-7161-5152&amp;r=x404&amp;c=534x401\/local\/-\/media\/2018\/01\/15\/DetroitNews\/DetroitNews\/636516228146314367-2018-0115-dm-naias-toyota-avalon0253.jpg\" alt=\"636516228146314367-2018-0115-dm-naias-toyota-avalon0253.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div><p class=\"speakable-p-1 p-text\">Toyota&#8217;s all-new Avalon sedan made its grand entrance into the world Monday at the Detroit auto show.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable-p-2 p-text\">After a 32 percent sales dive in 2017, Toyota is hoping to jump-start sales of its flagship mid-size sedan in a ute-obsessed market.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">The fifth-generation Avalon will be powered by either a 3.5-liter\u00a0V6 or a Toyota&#8217;s hybrid system that features a 2.5-liter-four-cylinder- and 650-volt engine paired with a Continuously-Variable Transmission.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">All Avalons\u00a0are assembled in Georgetown, Ky., and have been since\u00a01994.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">The sleek Avalon is\u00a0joined at the North American International Auto Show\u00a0by the brand\u2019s full vehicle lineup of cars, trucks and SUVs, including future mobility vehicles and NASCAR Camry designs in a 38,971-square-foot display.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">On the heels of its coming-out party at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the rugged FT-4X Concept also bowed in Detroit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">The Toyota FT-4X Concept \u2014 short for \u201cFuture Toyota\u201d four-wheel-drive crossover \u2014 is a modern toolbox for today\u2019s city driver. The vehicle was designed by Toyota\u2019s Calty Design Research Inc. in Newport Beach, Calif., and inspired by Toyota\u2019s iconic adventure vehicles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">Also on display in Cobo are a trio of future mobility vehicles that demonstrate Mobility for All \u2014 Concept-i RIDE, Concept-i WALK and Concept-i Experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">Concept-i RIDE is Toyota\u2019s ride-sharing solution for the city of tomorrow aimed at transforming mass transportation into a personable and wheelchair accessible experience.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">For the last leg of a user\u2019s commuter, the ultra-compact Concept-i WALK autonomously drives users home or to work using sidewalks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">With the Concept-i Experience, guests can step into Toyota\u2019s vision for the future. The interactive display engages with drivers through a powerful AI system that learns with the driver to build a relationship that is both meaningful and human.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p-text\">Several concepts unveiled at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association\u00a0\u2014 or SEMA \u2014 show will be on display, including the NASCAR driver designed Camrys.
