{"id":12836,"date":"2013-04-25T10:32:09","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T14:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/henrypayne.com\/?p=12836"},"modified":"2013-04-29T10:32:54","modified_gmt":"2013-04-29T14:32:54","slug":"no-sequester-delays-for-air-force-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/henrypayne.com\/index.php\/2013\/04\/no-sequester-delays-for-air-force-one","title":{"rendered":"No sequester delays for Air Force One"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"AP photo\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.detroitnews.com\/politics\/files\/AFOne_Ap-photo.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This week has been an unpredictable nightmare for the nation\u2019s air passengers as President Obama\u2019s sequester strategy targeted the nation\u2019s airports,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.detroitnews.com\/politics\/2013\/04\/23\/the-bully-in-chiefs-sequester-games\/\">unnecessarily furloughing<\/a>\u00a010 percent of air traffic controllers in order to visit maximum pain on travelers (in order to provoke them into blaming Congress for the sequester, so the strategy goes). Despite legal discretion to prioritize cuts, the White House made no effort to do so \u2013 thus no priority was given to keep essential air controllers on the job over non-essential FAA community planners, and no priority was given to Detroit Metro Airport over Pellston Airport.<\/p>\n<p>Priority\u00a0<i>was<\/i>\u00a0made, however, for the architect of the sequester flight delays.<\/p>\n<p>Whereas flights in the Dallas area (like Detroit) had been beset with sequester delays, AIr Force One took off from Love Field in Texas with no problems Thursday night after the president\u2019s day in the Dallas area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c6:43 p.m. local, Love Field \u2014 potus and flotus emerged from Marine one, holding hands and talking to each other as they walked to AF One,\u201d reads the president\u2019s press pool report. \u201d They climbed aboard and we are rolling toward takeoff.\u201d Off on time, back in DC at 10 PM \u2013 right on schedule.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently it\u2019s only the huddled masses that have to feel the sequester pain.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week has been an unpredictable nightmare for the nation\u2019s air passengers as President Obama\u2019s sequester strategy targeted the nation\u2019s airports,\u00a0unnecessarily furloughing\u00a010 percent of air traffic controllers in order to visit maximum pain on travelers (in order to provoke them into blaming Congress for the sequester, so the strategy goes).
