Domino’s Pizza founder Tom Monaghan, a Michigan business titan and devout Roman Catholic,\u00a0filed suit in a Michigan federal district court against Obamacare<\/a>\u00a0Friday over the law’s forced coverage of abortion-inducing drugs, contraception, and sterilization.<\/p>\n

Joining a raft of legal complaints from religious groups against the controversial law, Monaghan’s federal suit cites a violation of his First Amendment rights – and claims the law violates the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the Administrative Procedure Act as well.<\/p>\n

The filing was almost competently ignored by Michigan’s establishment media.<\/p>\n

“The government intentionally declared war on a specific religion using the HHS mandate as its weapon,” said a representative for the Thomas More Law Center which which represents Monaghan. “Because Mr. Monaghan believes it is his religious duty to provide insurance coverage for his employees and their families, he will not abandon them. Yet he intends to show his vehement opposition to this unconstitutional mandate which threatens the religious liberties of all Americans.”<\/p>\n

He now runs Ava Maria University in Florida, the Ava Maria Mutual Funds, and other interests after selling Michigan-based Domino’s in 1998 to Bain Capital. The suit also lists as a plaintiff Domino’s Farms, a Michigan office park complex that Monaghan still owns.<\/p>\n

Like many Catholic-run institutions, Monaghan’s companies offer health insurance to employees that excludes contraception and abortion on religious grounds. Obamacare’s violation of religious freedoms became a hot issue in the 2012 presidential campaign – and was distorted by Obama & Media as a “war on women.” In addition to Catholic suits, the law has\u00a0also provoked concern among Michigan counties and Michigan food service companies<\/a>\u00a0that they won’t be able to afford Obamacare’s expensive coverage mandates.<\/p>\n

The MSM’s refusal to cover the religious and business storm around Obamacare does a disservice to a public that will soon be feeling its effects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
