Detroit — The Detroit Grand Prix street circuit doesn’t go hot until June, but IndyCar and IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship drivers gave fans hot laps inside Huntington Place on Tuesday as part of the Detroit Auto Show’s Racing Day.
In Chevrolet Corvette E-Rays.
VROOM! VROOM! VROOM! Driver of the #12 Team Penske IndyCar David Malukas, Dutchman Rinus VeeKay of the Junkos Hollinger IndyCar team, and IMSA Corvette ace Alex Sims peeled out one after another on the show’s Detroit GP-sponsored gas-car track — the rear tires breaking loose on the slippery concrete surface.
